The answer to that question above would be a very long time ago for this particular tank cleaned by Eurotank recently.
As well as the tank containing very heavy sludge, large slabs of built-up sediment were also removed (see inset photo). Allowing sludge and solid waste to build up not only can cause corrosion and damage to the tank but also contaminate the fuel, which in turn can lead to fuel dispenser issues such as blocked filters. Microbial contamination will also inevitably make its way into the fuel tanks or your trucks and vans.
Greg Wyatt, Eurotank’s Technical Sales Manager, said: “Storage tanks need cleaning for a variety of reasons from general preventative housekeeping and reactive troubleshooting to ensuring compliance for a tank inspection such as EEMUA 159 Out of Service Inspections, which are required for vertical tanks. Using our in-house fleet of ADR-compliant, high-powered vacuum and artic tankers along with ultra-high pressure water jetting equipment, Eurotank cleans tanks ranging from 1,000-litre capacity to one million litres or more.”
