The team took 41 days to install the pure polyurea lining to the bund for bulk fuel storage tanks.
The area was first prepared by slurry water followed by abrasive blasting, which is critical for effective adhesion of the lining. Once blasting was complete, the team carried out a clean-up slurry and jet washed the entire area.
Any cracks were repaired with polyurethane mastic in the substrate, and once the area had been prepared and cleaned, two primer coats were applied by roller. Once the primer had met its adhesion window, the polyurea hotspray was applied by heated plural component sprayer to the primed surface at a thickness of 2.5mm.
Any bugholes were filled with monosealant mastic and subsequently over-sprayed with the hotspray.
Greg Wyatt, Eurotank’s Group Technical Sales Manager, said: “It was exciting for Eurotank to carry out a lining project of this scale and it’s all credit to the lining team for their efforts and excellent attention to detail.”
