Specialist Lining Services (SLS) recently started the internal lining of two bulk storage tanks, measuring 1350m2 and 1850m2 respectively in terms of surface area.
The tanks, in Essex, had previously had gas oil stored in them but are now switching to storing 100% methanol.
They are being grit blasted to SA2.5 standards which is followed by the installation of two coats of Interline 850.
SLS Managing Director Mike Kingston said: “This is a challenging project being carried out at an unfavourable time of the year, but with the right climatic controls in place, the project can be carried out successfully in the winter months.
“A big thank you to Hogg Blasting & Finishing Equipment Ltd for providing the plant to carry out the project.”
It’s been a very busy time for Mike as he recently delivered his first ICATS five-day course to the SLS site staff, after recently achieving ICATS Trainer status.
The course combines Health and Safety, preparation and coating application.
Said Mike: “The staff had some excellent feedback, queries etc which is exactly what I wanted to achieve from the training.”
